Originally a small town surrounded by small farms and orchards, the City of Santa Clara is now over 18 miles square.
Like most towns in the Santa Clara Valley, its economic history has a strong base in agriculture and became famous for its flower and vegetable seed farms. Santa Clara, however, was also a hub for manufacturing, with its earliest manufacturing businesses being Wampach Tannery and Pacific Manufacturing Company, the largest supplier of wood products on the Pacific Coast.
Not surprisingly given its early beginnings, Santa Clara is home to over 36 historical homes and structures. Residents enjoy a typical California outdoor lifestyle with access to numerous public parks, recreation centers and a weekly farmer’s market.
